The King’s heart condition is a sad situation. Hopefully it’s nothing debilitating. Terrible for him obviously not getting one last shot. Sucks for the Caps who would have had a pretty good goaltending paring especially if Hank had one last good year in him. Now they are likely to have 2 young mostly unproven goalies. Sucks for the Rangers also. If they found this out before free agency he could have retired a Ranger or went on LTIR and they wouldn’t be on the hook for a large portion of salary for the next year.

Hopefully it’s nothing serious and he can come back for one last shot. Who knows maybe he went back to Sweden over the summer and said this is the life, I’m done.

He is the one guy I'd like to talk to Larry Brooks or Howie Rose - at the time, I knew a few of the Islander Ice Girls - they instructed up in Port Washington and Great Neck and New Hyde Park. I was friendly with Danielle and she was on the ice and backs the story of Lundqvist spitting at one of the ice crew.

Heck, I thought it was real gimmicky to have girls skate out and clean the ice, it was the first year the Isles did it, if i recall correctly, Lundqvist wasn't Lundqvist yet.

I would never draft a goaltender in the 1st Round and the DiPietro/Lundqvist 2000 draft is case in point. One very mediocre goaltender VS one Top 5. Top 7 goaltender for most of his career. Oy. Just terrible.
