Good morning everyone! A few years ago I came across a thread here where someone posted a journal or document containing detailed information from American Lithographic on the issuance of T206 brands - distribution, start and end dates for each brand with a description of the card. Does anyone remember this or can find more information on this? Thanks.

i remember seeing a bunch of those at a show many years ago...the ones I saw had a front and back of a card pasted to a ledger page for each of the backs. Wondering if some got soaked off over the years.

Here is a thread about the T206 ledger sheets and some other relevant T206 documents that the OP posted links. Unfortunately these links are no longer valid. I believe the OP is still a member.
https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=144862 I also think Ted has used some of this information in his various T206 threads. I don't recall if he has ever posted images. Brian |

Terry Knouse had some of these ledger pages around 1997. I believe I saw them at the 1997 Cleveland National.

I saw the ledger mostly complete. Apparently they even ripped apart individual pages. Some hobby.....

The answer to craziness, many times, is money. Kind of sad when ruining history.

Indeed. Anything for $. Shame to see things like this get destroyed and separated.

Thanks for the info and when I saw those "notes" posted on T206 recourse, all I could think of was how much information was lost but cutting or ripping them up.

Todd Riley has most of the non-sport pages lumped into a single PDF on his site located at the URL below. Some of the T220 boxing and T219 sports are there but none of the baseball. The non-sports were largely intact, full pages, not like the baseball trimmed down so much. Hobby archaeology......

next time make them access it through the non-sport portal. We could use some new traffic and collectors

The Old Mill page says "began packing Nat'l players same as those used in Piedmonts Jan 8 1910" the Old Mill page also says "began packing one Nat'l + 1 So league pict" and "cabinet size ball players picture to each carton". The Tolstoi page says "Advise we have discontinued packing Baseball pictures in Tolstoi and substituted 1 Military and 1 pugilist pictures. started packing march 11 1911. Looking at the Old Mill page again where it says cabinet size ball players
to each carton could these be H801-7,s. It looks like it also says cabinet size prizefighters and near the bottom it says to pack for all states except Ohio. |

I'm surprised this thread has received so few responses the pdf file Tom
posted of the ATC journal is incredible information on a large number of sports and non sports tobacco cards. The first two index pages list the different brands and most of the pages that they are on in the journal. A couple of interesting things I see about t206's that haven't been mentioned is that 13 of the 15 t206 brands (not including Ty Cobb) are on the index page but EPDG and Polar Bear are missing also a few of the T206 brands say began packing for all states except Ohio on some of the ledger pages. ATC Index Ledger page 1.jpg ATC Index Ledger page 2.jpg I think the most interesting thing I found is on the first Carolina Brights page in the ledger. John posted one of the Carolina Brights pages in the above post but unfortunately the packing and shipping info has been ripped off but on the earlier Carolina Brights page on the side it says "began packing ball pictures Piedmont back backs in Carolina Brights 12/8/09 or 12/18/09"(I cant tell which). And after that it says began packing 2 ball pictures with C.B. backs but it doesn't have a date. ATC Carolina Brights Ledger page 1.jpg ATC Carolina Brights Ledger page 1 - Copy.jpg To me it seems to indicate that before they began printing the Carolina Brights backs on t206's they were inserting Piedmonts in the C.B. packs. |

That is a cool tidbit Pat about Carolina Brights packages probably containing Piedmont backs before they began inserting CB backs into CB packs. Just another possible reason, besides popularity of the Piedmont brand, that Piedmonts backs are so common...cross brand synergy!

This is very interesting.... Without this things in documentation, if one pulled Piedmont cards from unopened CB packs, everyone would think those CB packs were tampered. It is also interesting to know 25 cards were just loosely included inside a carton package and not inside individual tobacco packs. Last edited by chriskim; 08-26-2020 at 05:42 AM. |

The only reason I knew where these were is because the same catalog hosted a large portion of Jeff Morey's autograph collection, including his signed T206 Cicotte, Clarke Batting, Crawford batting, and Wheat.
Extra large image so people can grab screen shots if they want for their research/records. ![]()

Pat R, looking at the Index page is does say "Gales". Could that be EPDG?
Also, note that Polar Bear was, I believe, only inserted in Tobacco packs and not Cigarette packs like the other brands. It could explain why Polar Bear is not listed. |
