It is not unusual to find the Yount rookie with blue blotches in the sky background. These are absolutely not print smudges, rather a different version of the card. My question is how do the grading companies handle this version? Do they treat it as print marks? Do they ignore the smudges and grade the card as if the blotches aren't there? Do they acknowledge the variation? Has anyone ever seen a blotched sky Yount graded 8 or better?

This anomaly is noted in the never ending variations thread in here. There are a couple of sky versions and a small blue streak just above the auto version that was the discussion of a thread on CU. I tend to think of them as recurring print defects but did pursue them. My guess is only Yount or deranged variant collectors....like me .... recognize the differences.
Was the card DP ? Last edited by ALR-bishop; 10-10-2019 at 07:59 AM. |
