Interesting article about card trimming

The author argues for less tolerance in the size requirement for cards. Obviously a similar exercise with tobacco cards would yield different results. Nonetheless, what other tools do we have for detecting trimming? Could anyone here do better than the TPG’s do? If so, what’s your advice?
