Have you ever seen something cool going on in a photograph that 'probably' had nothing to do with the main subject?
Post up.

I love looking at photos and looking at the people behind the main subject.
I do not have a specific example right now but there have to be so many stories behind the main subject and I try to figure them out!! |

When I was working on Oriole Park at Camden Yards back in 1991 I got to design the usher uniforms. I wanted to create something that was classier that the usual polo shirts ushers wore at the time so I looked to the past. This was before the internet so there was no easy searchable databases to see what ushers in the old days wore. So I had to think outside the box. What I did was look in the back grounds of team photos and more often than not an usher or hot dog salesman would sneak into the background, and soon I had a nice collection of vintage usher reference to work from.

Here's the unintentional 'photo bomb' that led to this thread:

One of my favorite "oddball" photos is of Chief Bender mowing the outfield grass in 1916 while he was with the Phillies. Note how the grounds crewman looks perplexed as he holds Chief Bender's glove while the fully uniformed player mows the grass.

I have a photo of Jim Jeffries on his farm that shows the mountains and northeast end of Burbank as they appeared 110 years ago when it was all farmland and scrub.

I thank the OP for this interesting thread. And I thank board member Gary Passamonte for introducing me to the term "Photo Bomber" some time ago. On 8x10's...first photo in the center background, second item lower right and and number three maybe all the kids on top and the one with three arms on the far right.
