Here is my thought and questions. I went to the Louisville slugger factory recently and found the whole process amazing. I have collected many autographs over the years and thought about the bat side of things. I found alot of websites about bats and bat models. I have started for lack of a better word a new focus on what I want to collect. I have been looking at my favorite players bats that the used when they played. Honestly I never gave it much thought about the differences in the bats. I recently purchased a R43 that was a Ruth personal preference and a M110 that was a Mantle model. I guess my question is is there any others here that have done the same and any help or advise???

If you can get your hands on one that is reasonably priced (they are out of print), "A Complete Reference Guide Louisville Slugger Professional Player Bats" by Vince Malta is a terrific resource that will detail the history of H+B. Included in the back are the ordering records of many established players over the course of their careers, so you can get a sense of which models they preferred.
Also, PSA/DNA website for bat authentication will show examples (with pictures) of many players preferred bat models and their use attributes if you're into that sort of thing. Good luck. |

I collect game used bats from T206 players. I have about 30. At one time a couple of years ago it was fairly cheap to get them. I believe I paid $120 for a Roy Brashear and $150 for a Dolly Stark. Now you'll be lucky to find them for under $1000. A Wildfire Schulte and Fred Merkle recently sold for $15,000+ https://huntauctions.com/live/imagev...m=16&lot_qual= https://huntauctions.com/live/imagev...m=22&lot_qual= |
