I need this card but I really wouldn't have been interested in it in that condition for the opening bid of $50, I was shocked that it ended up going for $405. It is missing three borders, has two huge creases, soft corners, a deep scratch, and heavy edge wear. It is the first one I recall ever seeing on eBay, though. It'll probably remain among the many holes in my collection that I will never fill.

I am shocked that a company named “4 sharp corners” sold it. 🤪
It is the toughest card in set ! |

Welcome to the wild and woolly world of oddball collecting. Sometimes they go for nothing, and sometimes they go nuts, even in garbage condition. Part of the fun with the copies in rough condition is that they're so rare that this might be one of your only chances to pick it up in any condition. So condition tends to be less of a factor when it comes to price. In this case, demand is also sometimes sketchy, but if a couple of people show up at the auction ready to spend, then the price can go nuts. And if only one motivated bidder shows up, then not so much.
I happened to pick this one up, along with most of the rest of the pieces from this set that were up for auction last night. Just missing a couple to complete my set now! https://www.psacard.com/psasetregist...shedset/496471

I wasn't aware of the 1971 Bazooka Numbered set until now. Fascinating stuff.

Years ago the singles used to show up from time to time - usually cut very poorly/miscut, but otherwise nice shape. The few panels in the hobby were either cut off sheets that survived (some still intact) or there was 1 panel set owned by Woody Gellman that made its way into the hobby.
The singles today are not an easy find, the panels next to impossible. An interesting note - On the uncut sheets - the Mays panel was part of the example of the complete box on the sheet. The Mays panel and singles have definitely been less available than the others - perhaps when the original sheets were cut down, they skipped/tossed the Mays panel because it was part of the box and not as easy to cut as the rest which were just lined up in panel form. The Hundley and Jim Hunter are the other 2 players on the panel.
