Should I Send this 1915 Cracker Jack to PSA (It is Mint Besides a Stain on the Back).
Card is Ridiculous. No Caramel Stains White Border instead of the usual Cream Border Sharp Corners Perfect Edges Bright Vivid Color I don't know why SGC gave it a 2. Looks like a PSA 9 (MK) Worst Case Scenario PSA 8 (MK) ![]() ![]() |

If you send it in again it will be a 1.5 to 2 again. The staining messed up some of the lettering too.

Don’t you throw away cards that aren’t in the old PSA flips (other thread)? As Leon stated, the stain is probably more than just a stain. It appears to be legit surface damage. It’s a beautiful card though.

It seems like it Depends on the Grader. I have seen Off Center Cards Graded a Few Grades Down or the Legit Grade with OC Qualifier. I have seen Some Trimmed Cards Graded Authentic and Some Do Not Get Slabbed. I read somewhere you can Request it to be Slabbed Authentic on the Submission Form. Can I send it in and Request it as a Higher Grade with a Qualifier on the Submission Form too? Last edited by that T206 Guy; 06-21-2018 at 03:08 PM. |

is it staining or paper loss?

This is the kicker. It looks like there's some paper loss. It that case it won't grade any higher. It is a really nice card though.

Half the word Brooklyn is gone. Paper loss. Not something they use a qualifier for.

A 2 it is then - i think this definitely qualifies as PWCC-HE, and not just PQ

You can't send this to PSA - you'll get square corners instead of rounded ones!!!!

PWCC is a seller on eBay (Pre-War Card Collector) aka Brent Huigens, who has started denoting "High End" cards - ones that look amazing for the grade - as either HE or PQ: Premium Quality.
The Purple Label company is also doing the same thing, basically, saying that cards that look awesome for the grade will also get a pretty sticker attached to the slab. Most collectors think those are fads, but some people are paying extra for them. Both PWCC and Purple Label company (board member Lowpopper) are now advertisers here on Net54.

In Coins there is a Green Sticker Called CAC. I guess the Best way to put it is that it is a Third Party Grading Service that Evaluates Another Third Party Grading Service. Kind of Ridiculous. You buy a PCGS Slabbed Coin (PCGS is like the PSA of Coins). Then you Pay Another Company to Look at Your Already Graded Coin and if they Agree they put a Green Sticker on the Coin Slab making it more Valuable. http://www.caccoin.com/ Shouldn't One Grading Company be Enough ????? I am Guessing this Purple Sticker is the Same as the Green Sticker for Coins or am I Wrong? Last edited by that T206 Guy; 06-21-2018 at 07:22 PM. |

Also you may want to refine your grading eye. Between centering and corner wear that I can see in a small scan it is only a "7" It is a gorgeous card for the grade though.

Same theory; this just started a couple of months ago. Here is a thread to read about it:
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=254339 FWIW, a lot of 10 1968 Topps commons SGC graded between 6-7 all with purple stickers just sold for only $33 on a major eBay seller's recent auction. So if those stickers cost $5 each and many of the owner's cards were evaluated and not given purple stickers, the consignor took a cold bath with those cards.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/372333213...2047675.l10137 ...may have to click "listing" if it forwards you to another auction like it has been doing lately.

Exactly I don't see how that card is a 2.5
It is Amazing (And the Issue is on the Back not the Front). I have seen Other 2.5 Cards that look like They Got Ran Over By a Car (On Both Sides). |

Two great cards, especially that WaJo, wow Jon - is there any paper loss at the bottom where there was never any writing?

Both have been glued into an album at one time, hence the back damage and grades.

No real paper loss on the back. Just some glue residue.
Scott - agreed. The grade is the technical grade for the card. However, I'd take 2.5s that look like the WaJo all day long.

The grade is technically correct. Practically speaking, IMO this is one of the nicest looking examples out there, and I would rather own this over many higher graded examples out there.

got a good premium over the typical PSA 1 price, but nowhere even near the 5 or 6 price that you'd think from looking at the front of the card. Also the card is naturally blank backed so my tape stain (and that's all it is, not actual tape) doesn't remove or obscure any writing!

The top left corner is dinged, and the bottom left and top right have minor touches. Strictly from a corner perspective, it's a 7.5-8.
