I realize this is nothing earth-shattering (and may not be interesting to anyone other than me), but I figured it was worth a post. Like many of us, I like to go to flea markets and antique/junk shops, and over the years I've looked through lord knows how many thousands of old cabinet cards, CDVs, and antique photos looking for anything related to baseball. All I've ever gotten was covered in dust. Until this past weekend, when I found this in a stack of cabinets and family photos in an antique mall in the NC mountains. It's dated "Summer 1921" in pencil on the back.
Not really sure what is going on here, looks like pops is holding the bat, trying to be funny, and the hidden 3rd person in back is trying to grab it from him. Just a silly photo, but it's my silly photo!

Well, Dan. I'm an advanced vintage original photo collector for going on two decades now, and I've always had a thing for snapshots. I think it's a terrific photo! Just a playful image that was instantly a family treasure.
In that time and in a rural setting, photographs were a luxury and a form of entertainment as well as documenting family life to be passed down for generations, or... decades later landing in the hands of a stranger, like yourself who will now make that photo a family treasure to be passed down by yourself, Dan, in your family. Well done on your old new family heirloom, Dan! My very best, Jimmy |

What I find interesting is obviously the mystery person in the back is female based on the dress hanging down and the profile of the haircut that can be seen but still has a hand and forearm that would rival gramps with the bat or anyone else for that matter.
Cool find. Drew
