I have a few Post and Jello cards in my Hank Aaron collection. I like the cards, but I admit that I don't know much about these sets. Have there been any issues with reprints/fakes? If so, what are the things to look for?

Bob Lemke has produced several custom Post cards in the 1961 to 1963 format. He sometimes sells them. Often they involve players who were not in the original issues or features them in different poses. I know he did a Mantle Jello card. Not sure if has done Jello others. They are designated a recent creations on back. I have several, my favorite being the missing card 145 from the Topps 1958 set
If you google "bob Lemke blog jello post" you should find a link Last edited by ALR-bishop; 06-28-2016 at 07:55 AM. |

Ed, Some of your Aaron's from the 62 Post set may have different colors depending on what box type it came from. It's the same card just from a different cereal box type.

Yes. I think he has done two versions of it. Bouche does show up as 145 on the the second series checklist on the back of the Washington Senators team card. On latter CLs in the set, 145 is blank

Here are a couple "fake" Jell-O boxes. Even went as far as putting generic Jell-O in the boxes.
![]() I have made several of these for friends with different cards on them. In hand though like Bobs amazing examples they are easy to tell they are not real. One super easy way to tell most fakes is wipe it with a wet cloth. You might clean a little dirt off a real one but the ink from the fakes will be smeared and ruined. |

In 1983, Baseball Card Magazine as a part of an article on the 60s Jell-O Baseball Card Promotions offered a copy of a Bob Gibson (flat) Jell-O box where collectors were invited to build their own Jell-O box. Fast forward now pushing 25 years, occasionally cards or boxes that were build with the page from the magazine do surface. Probably more boxes than Gibson cards. With Gibson being one of the SPs of the 63 set, one should always be careful if making a Gibson purchase. The box in the magazine was Lemon flavor that is the one you need to be careful. There are several red flags one might look for with the primary one being the magazine copy is very much faded over what a more normal card would look like. So anyway, just a heads-up.

how do you tell the difference between post and jello in 1963

![]() The easiest way to distinguish between the 1963 Jell-O cards and the Post cards is by the red line dividing the stats. On the Jell-O cards the line is shorter (see pics): ![]() ![]() Not sure if true for all cards in these sets, but the pic on the Aaron Post is more of a close up. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I believe Hank Aaron is the only recropped/resized photo between the 1963 Jello and post sets. Otherwise all of the photos are the same--with the primary distinguishing feature being the length of the red line between the stat lines.

And the corresponding narrower card.
