1989 Bowman Tiffany sealed sets. Any experience opening them? I have 3 sets for sale and thinking about opening and sending to psa and Bgs, but would like to hear of others experience

I never have but you could get a decent idea by looking at the PSA pop report. I'm assuming the reason to break one is to get a 9 or 10 griffey. Look at the numbers of those vs 7s and 8s to see if it's worth it.

Be careful. I don't have a experience with the Bowman Tiffany but the Topps Tiffany sets have a problem with being off center.

I've never cracked one open, but are there any issues with the cards sticking together - being that they are glossy? I heard from someone that they had cracked open a Topps factory set from the late 90's and many of the cards were actually damaged because of this.

I do like to gamble so I would probably open one, and sell the other two as sets.
Odds look like about 60% you'll get an 8 or less and lose half your money or more, assuming you bought a box for 400. A 9 you'll about break even, 30% chance this happens. A 10 will be hit a little less than 10% of the time, 118 out of 1,243, but they have sold for between 1400 and 2500 recently. These numbers don't account for sets that were broken and the cards were too beat up or off center to submit.

Look at all the Griffey examples on ebay that should give you a good idea of the range of centering and distribution.

I forgot to add there's always the chance you get the ultimate home run, a BGS 10 Griffey. One sold a few months ago for 13k. That would be a pretty good return for a 400 box.
The more I think about this the more I think I would just open all 3 and hope for the best.

I'm not saying it's the most financially sound approach, but I like to gamble and you never know. Win some lose some. The greatest average expected return is to sell them, but what fun is that?
