Would like to get a type set checklist to get a start at a type set.
I have a few (about 90-100) cards from the pre-Topps era, but a few are from the same sets. I'd like to know if anyone has a decent type set checklist From 50-500 sets or so I could use. I have the SCD catalog from this year, but that is way too many pages and too many sets to pursue. As well, I'd like to know if the set was distributed nationally or locally. Any help would be appreciated.

Um
when I was editing the Beckett Almanac we had 25K sets in our data base. There are many more sets now. What exactly are you trying to do with your type set. Are you looking for a type from all pre-1995 Topps sets (or whatever year Al stops at) Are you looking at regional sets Are you looking for all ballpark giveaway sets Leon's goal was to collect a type from every set in the American Card Catalog and he came darned close before selling What is your goal and if you want to collect 1960's sets for example - then the listing in Krause is far easier to complete on a type basis Rich

Wanting from 1980 and before. Wanting National sets as well as regional, tobacco, food etc. Not interested in team issued sets. Not interested in ballpark giveaway sets.

Try this:
http://www.teamsets4u.com/checklist.html. I reference this site quite a bit when looking for Cardinal types. |

SCG VINTAGE baseball cards
would cut down on all those modern issues that I myself don't have a need for in a reference guild. It stops at 1980 Topps and has everything from there back. Other than than I just made a spread sheet of sets I follow so I can access it anywhere. Lot of work but that is still part of the hobby that I like, helps to track how rare some SPs are regional issues really are. |
