Well played, Greg. But of course you know SEAN has the gravity spikes. And he will always tell you when he has them.

Thanks, Todd. Saw those but the centering on both is just too off to pull the trigger. Appreciate the heads up.

Thats a nice 5.5 there Peter...defintely better centering that what Heritage has.
They got a nice PSA 7 coming up Jan 29th, but i know MattyC wont like the L-R centering on it. They also have another..a sgc70/5.5 pic unavailable 4/21 but based on the description, the centering may be off too. But you should look at the MEMORY LANE preview---- THEY GOT A GORGOUS PSA 8.5 starting bid 17,500 http://www.memorylaneinc.com/site/bi...a-4af0cd431d75 ![]() ![]() They got several HIGH GRADE MANTLES!!!!

20k+? I wish. But surely you jest. That card will go for much, much higher, is my expectation. I am actively bidding on it, but don't have my hopes up. A few weeks ago, I jotted down my gut instinct on where I think each Mick on that auction will end, so am very curious to see how the dust settles on this auction.
Jeff: great card. Seeing all these nice ones I'd love to have is like torture, LOL. Last edited by MattyC; 12-26-2015 at 11:09 AM. |

You might as well say the top price you will pay for the card for the grade....if the person has the card he will sell it to you and if someone knows someone that may have the card they get their own finders fee if you know what I mean...
offering 300 over market for a card in a private collection isn't going to happen for a card in the 1000s...I assuming you know all the auctions so the only way a finder fee applies is with a card in a private collection who could list the card at auction for market price any time they want...heck the 300 wont even cover the buyers premium for someone selling it at auction..... Jake, appreciate the help and thanks for the opinion, but I don't put a number out without seeing a card; I believe each and every card is unique, and I will pay a lot more for one card than another in the same grade, depending on the card's eye appeal.
The $300 is for anyone who helps me find the card, be it one owned by a friend of theirs, one they find in a local shop, one at an AH with which I am currently unfamiliar, etc. To be clear, it is not me saying to an owner, "Let me pay you VCP average, and by the way here's an extra $300, deal?" If an owner contacts me directly and has a card I want, he will see right away from my opening offer that I am a serious buyer, happy to pay a top of the market or even record price, and ideally we'll come to an agreement that satisfies us both. |

also didn't say anything about VCP average just asked you the most you would be willing to pay for a grade.best case scenario so people will know the upper limits which may help pry a card out of someones collection..but of course you not held to that amount, you would have to see the card of course and take it from there offer wise Last edited by 1952boyntoncollector; 01-02-2016 at 10:01 PM. |

Looks more like a 7-7.5
if i sent this card in i would get a 6.5 As they say, buy the card not the holder ![]()

I know the card was found, but check out this PSA 6.5 with sweet centering that went up earlier today. BIN at $8150.

Yeah, I've seen a few other '53T Mantles with the same stain in the upper left corner, to varying degrees. This one is a bit more expansive. Must have been a factory issue. All the more interested to see where this one shakes out.

Thx, brotha. When I get it in hand I will def post a pic. Feel it's bad juju otherwise
![]() ![]() Regarding that 6.5, that is a very handsome card; with centered 7s fetching $19,000+ these days, the jump really happens from 6 to 7 grade-- thus a 6.5 is a nice value. I was initially tempted to make an offer on that 6.5 when I saw it in my auto search, since the centering is gorgeous, but for me personally the stain is a bit too much considering I already found one. If I didn't have one, I would probably have tried to bring that 6.5 home. I wonder if it merited the ST qualifier at a higher number grade, but the non-qualified status was chosen at the time of grading? Regardless it presents really nicely. If it didn't have that blotch I would be all over it and have doubles! An extra 53T could be a nice trade chip should a nice 62T surface! Last edited by MattyC; 01-15-2016 at 09:08 PM. |

You can still get a 5 in the 2000s so don't imagine a 5.5 really goes for that much more as half grades tend to sell for much closer to the lower grade than the higher..i have seen 2 grades mean 7-10x difference in price happens all the time |

156 7s.
90 8s. And that it happens doesn't make it rational IMO, particularly if one is collecting cards not flips. Last edited by Peter_Spaeth; 01-16-2016 at 09:12 AM. |

right 4s and 5's are both in the upper 400s...counting half grades that's 1000 cards for 4s and 5s together which have close to an equal amount each...
6s about 300 cards only 250 from 7s and highers...it would look the break point for a big jump would be a 7 and higher..so makes sense to be a multiplier at the 7 or more level.. Happens with goudey ruths generaly.. PSA 1, 1000 PSA 2 2000, PSA 3 3000 essential even 4s go for basically 4000-4300...than at 5 'bang' can be 7000+ a multiplier as well.. The bang number with the 1953 Mantle is a 7...but maybe 6 is getting into play, who knows.....but certainly not at the 4-5 level with 1000 cards...
