United States Negro Baseball League 1945/1946 memorabilia
I was just doing some light research on this short-lived league and was wondering if anybody had any photos or other material related to it (this is probably a long shot).
This was part of Branch Rickey's plot to bring a negro league together for purposes of beginning the integration process and finding the best players. I have one photo of Gibbie Meeks of the Brooklyn Brown Dodgers. Baseball Reference shows him with the Pittsburgh Crawfords in 1946 but hard to say where he actually played as the league was very fluid apparently. The photo was taken at Grantsville, West Virginia. Btw, Gibbie is reportedly still living in Arkansas at the young age of 97 (edited to add that I just found out he passed away earlier this year). Rob M.
