Found this at an estate sale years ago. I know very little about bats. Hoping someone can help me with the approximate value, and determining more about exactly how old it is, etc. I'm still deciding if I want to sell it to someone who will appreciate it more, or frame in and display it.
I have attached photos of the bat, if you could tell me as much about it as you can, that would be great. While I know the condition of the bat certainly leaves more to desire, if you could give me a rough appraisal value I would greatly appreciate it. Length of bat: Roughly 29" long Knob of the bat: There is only a number "9". The nine is underlined, so I'm reasonable sure it's not a 6(Hillerich Bradsby Knob). Middle of the bat(Hillerich Bradsby photo 1&2): I can make out the Louisville Kentucky "Hillerich Bradsby" logo. In the Middle of that logo, I can make out "220KLL" and "made in USA" To the right of the "Hillerich Bradsby" logo appears to be another logo. I believe that logo says "Kentucky Lumber co." however I am not sure. Can you confirm that is correct? Barrel of the bat: This is where things get a little hard to decipher. I can make out what appears to be a Star "MODEL" Star(See photo Hillerich Bradsby 3 & 3A). Just above that, I can see where it appears to have been stamped with a Roberto Clemente stamp. Almost all of the ink has worn off. The only ink that remains from the signature is the top and bottom of the "R" and the top of the "b"(See photo Hillerich Bradsby 4 & 4A). I'd love your educated guess if you believe that to be correct as well. If you have a picture of what the bat looked like originally and any further information, age, etc. I would really appreciate it. If there is further information or photos I can provide you that would help determining more information, please don't hesitate to let me know. I believe it is a Roberto Clemente Louisville Slugger. There is a # 9 on the knob. The barrel says *Model* with his faint signature and Louisville Slugger. It is a 29" bat. Thanks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() how to screenshot on windows 7 Last edited by NovaKnowledgeNow; 10-16-2015 at 01:43 PM. |

Definitely a store model and at 29" looks like it is likely a little league bat endorsed by Roberto Clemente. In the condition yours is in I would estimate value between $10and $20.

Yes, unfortunately in that condition a $10 valuation may be generous. No collecting value.

the 9 is known as an "inch mark" and as noted, means that the bat is 29" in length...I agree with the other posters as to value (or lack thereof)

Definitely not a "college fund" bat.

Thanks for the feedback. I think we have sufficiently determined there in minimal value to it. I'm thinking about using it in a bat rack art project. Can anyone give me a year, or approximate year for the bat?
Thanks, |

Thanks Baseball Tourist... Where did you get the 1965 from? Is it just an educated guess, or is this coming out of a book somewhere? Are you going based on the logos of the bat?
Just curious. Thanks, |
