Our oldest daughter, Debbie, has passed away. I would like to share some stories of her with you.
I taught my two daughters, Debbie and Zoe, to play tennis when they were very young. They became top players on their H.S. Tennis teams. Also, they were very avid BB fans. Many Summers, we would drive to Yankee Stadium to see the Oldtimers game. I wanted them to see the ballplayers of my youth. Oldtimers game in 1973, we were thrilled see- ing Mickey Mantle hit his last HR at Yankee Stadium. A solid drive deep into the LF seats. And yes, Debbie and Zoe became lifetime Yankees fans. Spring of 1977, Deb and Zoe started collecting BB cards. They were curious about what happened to my BB cards. This motivated me to drive to Hillside, NJ to my folks home to search for the cards from my youth. I was excited to discover my original collection from 1947-1952 (Leaf's, Bowman's, Topps, etc.) which my Mom and Aunt stored in the attic. I have certainly credited my daughters for getting me back in this great hobby. Debbie graduated in the top 12 of her H.S. class (900 classmates). Graduated Trenton State College. Then only 23, Debbie had a terrific job with Metro Logic as a sales Rep. of Hi Tech (high speed) electronics devices. As a teenager, she had a keen curiousity in my line of work, which encouraged me to teach her a lot about analog & digital electronics. Debbie was married 1991 and gave birth to two beautiful children, Kurtis and Madison. They grew up in Montclair, NJ on the same street 4 houses away from Yogi Berra's house. On a couple of occasions, when visiting Debbie, we met Yogi and his wife, Carmen, while walking in their neighborhood. It was a real pleasure to talk with them. We will forever cherish the wonderful memories of Debbie's beautiful life......and, the happiness she imparted to everyone she met. Her enthusiasm for life is unforgetable. GOD BLESS you Debbie....we miss you very much. ![]() Sorry, about my lengthy post here, folks. But, when I share these stories with you, it helps to lessen my pain. TED Z .
