Greetings,
As part of my baseball card collection, I have been collecting cards of Chris Bootcheck. As of right now, I have 74 of his 79 cards (missing the bold cards ... http://chisoxfan.webs.com/ChrisBootcheckWants.html). Since there are not many cards being release of him, I thought I would venture into collecting tickets for games that he pitched in. Collecting tickets is new to me and am looking for guidance. Since these will be newer tickets (2003-2013), I'm not looking at getting them graded. So, how do you store your "raw" tickets? Where do you usually buy the tickets, eBay or another source? Do season tickets differ from public tickets (i.e. tickets that are bought on game day)? I'm sure there will be other questions, but can't think of any others at the moment. Thanks, James |

Hi James,
Great question! I recommend using ticket top-loaders (3 1/2" x 7 1/2"). Here is a quick look at what they look like with tickets in them. Once in top-loaders you can either box them in chronological order, or use albums with 3-pocket pages. I also use a PC-Labeler to put interesting facts about the game on the top-loader. Others that I know simply use fine-tipped sharpie. There are a few online sellers that I've used that are good to deal with & I can supply this info if you are interested. My two cents:
Look for season tickets (no generic ticketmaster) Don't bother with grading. Store them like Scott does ![]()

Thanks for the replies. I will be looking into getting some of those top loaders. Since Chris Bootcheck pitched in just under 100 games, makes it nice since the top loaders come in boxes of 25.
Scott, yes I would be interested in the info for the online sellers. You can either post, PM, or email the info. Whichever is most convenient for you. Just so I know the difference, guessing this is a Season Ticket ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/141660343380 Whereas this is a Generic Ticketmaster Ticket ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/201345804260 Note that both tickets are for the same game. Also, how can you tell the difference between a Ticket Stub and a Full Ticket. To me, the first link above appears to be a Full ticket, but the auction states it as a ticket stub? Thanks again for the help, James |

The first one is a season ticket but the second is not a Ticketmaster ticket since it was distributed directly by the ball club. This is the kind of ticket you get at the ticket window. These generally are not as desirable as season tickets but they are definitely a step up from Ticketmaster tickets.
Ticketmaster tickets are printed on their own stock so they look about the same no matter if it's for a ballgame, the circus, concert, etc. They look like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nolan-Ryan-C...item20fa961d24 Tickets these days get scanned upon entry so recent tickets are almost always full tickets. In the past, tickets were torn as you entered and what you were handed back was a stub. A full ticket for older games is an unused one. Last edited by Darner; 05-19-2015 at 06:47 PM. |
