I have a few dozen fairly nice graded t206s but I am hardly a prime collector and don't check prices regularly. However, I noted what seemed to be unusually strong prices last night for such in the PWCC auction, at least for the PSA 5s and especially the 6s. There were a few startlingly high bids--even $1000 or more--for a few common 6s that were only somewhat scarcer than the norm, or were "highest" for not-so- scare backs such as EPDG. Maybe this means nothing because PWCC usually generates higher bids, but what do you think? Pehaps there's a new group of registry people aiming for 5s and 6s?
Two examples: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-11-T206...item20fb36cf30 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-11-T206...item20fb36dd26 Last edited by GregMitch34; 05-11-2015 at 10:34 AM. |

There were definitely some strong prices. These two stand out to me.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-11-T206...item20fb36e294 Not a T206 but still a strong price for the grade. I wonder if the price spikes with the Ruth's are spilling over to the Gehrig cards. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1933-Goudey-...vip=true&rt=nc |

I thought this one went kinda high considering that it had paper loss on the back. I had one without paper loss that looked like an '8' that sold for only $50 more.

I think someone got a good deal on this Puttman, (SGC 4.5 for $102.50, considering a PSA 2 just sold for $88, and raws in fair-good are selling for around $100.)

Strong prices on the PSA 5s and 6s. I put in what I thought were decent snipes on 3 of the PSA 5s (Schulte Back, Shipke, Sweeney NY) expecting to win 1 or 2 and wasn't even close. All went for $200+. Reminds me of 2006.
Edited to add: On the Dessau PSA 6 that went for $1K+ there were 5 unique bidders above $525. Tougher common but still impressive. Last edited by sreader3; 05-11-2015 at 08:42 PM. |

LOL...Not always....I consigned a card with a VCP of $200 that ended last night. Final sales price? $51 - record low. I guess it all depends on who sees the cards and the actions of the consignors.

PWCC has a huge following and they are always setting price records. But they also have a lot selling for less then VCP. They get quality product and do a great job listing on eBay.

I just had a round of auctions end both ways (Friday). I had $200 cards selling for $50 and $100 cards selling for $200+

Personally I don't get the whole damn thing I'm as interested in the same card no matter who sells it. PWCC and others almost turn me off from bidding. I know that they'll most likely for my price range go higher than they should. That goes for commons and HOF'ers. I've only won a couple of things off of PWCC auctions while they were in good shape I feel like I overpaid for them.

I wasn't making broad claims--just that the PWCC prices (and some others) on many t206 PSA 6s (and some 5s) had soared. What other grades sold for I have no idea. The question is whether more and more people are now paying premium prices for somewhat premium cards....

Easy solution. Set a max and stick with it. Use an esnipe service and forget about it. If you feel you are overpaying then you may want to set your bar lower? Peace, Mike |

I got lucky winning the Mike Donlan fielding pose, which is a short print in a PSA 5 for $144.45, which usually sells for a couple hundred dollars in that grade.
