Post your Leland's pickups in last night's auction
Leland's Auction had some great items in it last night.
Did anyone see the lot that had Joe Jackson's personal family scrapbook? Way too cool! I managed to win this lot that contained Johnny Vander Meer's personal trophy ball from the last out of his 5th career shutout on 7/15/41 (his 34th career win). Vandy struck out 11 and posted a 4-hitter against his favorite foil the Boston Braves. A scant 2,012 Boston fans were in attendance of this game. Vander Meer had 29 shutouts in his ML career that was interrupted by WWII. More than 25% of his career wins were shutouts, meaning that when he was on, he was on.
