...let's see what your search skills come up with, just using sports pics on this site.
I had never seen this one before: 'Ruth knocked out 7/6/24' ![]()

On July 5, 1924, in the fourth inning of a game against the Washington Senators, Babe Ruth ran full-force into the wall at Griffith Stadium in Washington and knocked himself out. The photo is incredible.
" The Babe ran into the pavilion parapet with the full force of his body, and dropped unconscious to the grass. Uniformed policeman ran to his assistance and kept back the crowd that seemed disposed to leave the chairs and get a close-up of the injured warrior. Several photographers happened to be on the spot and they snapped the Babe as Trainer Doc Woods ran up with the water bucket and the little black bag of first aid preparations. At first it was thought that Ruth had been knocked out by a blow from the concrete on his chin, but it was sooon discovered that he had been knocked out by a jolt in the solar plexus. His left leg was also hurt at the hip." Internet search skills pass or fail? |

Scott,
I have actually seen that photo but just in the past year or so and I was also fascinated by it. It is bugging me that I can't remember where I saw it but it might have been just a Google search for Ruth Images. Incredible photo, history, and story, thanks! peace, mike |

I interpreted his request as being that others should try to find amazing pictures from the Library of Congress site.
