On occasion Topps has done Player Tributes involving cumulative reproductions of the player's Topps cards for a stadium give away. I got these two because they were listed in the SCD Standard Catalog. The individual cards on each are perforated and can be separated form the sheet. Anyone know of others like these ?

Hey Al,
Sort of similar...Tug McGraw had a poster giveaway in the 80's at the Vet that pictured all of his Topps cards around the border of the poster. I have since lost mine over the years, but it was a favorite poster of mine when I was younger. I got this pic from eBay, and I think this is the same poster. Thanks, AndyH

Al,
I think those would look GREAT framed and displayed; especially the Grich since I love the O's!...Angels; not so much). Really neat items... |

I've got nothing responsive to your request Al, but wanted to chime in about how cool these are, and that I never knew they existed. Especially like the '54 Ashburn and the '71 + '72 Grich cards. I also always liked Tug's Mets cards.

The Orioles did one for Ripken when he retired in 2001

Roar--did it involve a reproduction or likenesses of his cards ?
Andy-- were the cards detachable on the McGraw ? As a Cardinals guy I hate to admit this but the Cubs, did a great thing a couple of years ago, teaming with Topps to create a unique set of cards depicting current and past Cub players in the format of older Topps cards, similar to the Archive issues. The set was issued whole to season thicket holders, and given out in partial lots to fans attending 4 games during the season. A really cool promotion that I wish the Cardinals would copy ![]() Last edited by ALR-bishop; 09-18-2014 at 09:13 AM. |

Both the Ashburn and the Grich were listed in the Beckett DB because those cards were detachable and could be sold seperately (This is based on memory)

Hey Al,
No, the McGraw cards were not detachable. It was just a tribute poster that was given away at a game. I believe it was a Tug McGraw Day at Veteran's Stadium in 1984. Thanks, AndyH
