'31 Metropolitans & the card stock
I've read a few descriptions that characterize these cards to have been printed on a "heavy" or a "thicker" card stock. All of mine, (20+ cards from 6 different sources)are on a stock that is pretty thin and it tears easily. Not quite '34 Butterfinger thin, but not by much.
Some of mine are in pretty tough shape but throughout the range of conditions (Poor-Excellent) the sepia tones are pretty evident. How leery of card scans that appear more black & white should I be. Any wisdom regarding these cards and characteristics would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mark Fober

Met Cards
Hi Mark,
They are pretty thoroughly sepia in tone. I don't recall seeing any that I would call B&W but if you saw any like that, I would be suspicious. Although I don't really know why anyone would try to reproduce them. As for the stock, it is not as thick as Goudey card stock, but it is more substantial than most 1930s premium stock, especially Butterfingers. Maybe it is prone to tearing because the photos are so large.
