Default $8,000 in Vintage Football Cards .... BEST OFFER ... takes it.

Birthdays, Holiday's, Bills, ... Son's getting his license and needs a car ... blah, blah, blah. Same old story .... It's time to sell some more cards.

I'm taking the best offer on this batch. It's got a pretty decent break up value.

Here's a link to the thread, with all of the scans and breakdowns.

Shoot me a PM or e-mail with any offers.

Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike,

Have to respond here as it seems Ive been banned for a 3rd time from the CU board. Wonder if I hold the record?

Anyway just wanted to check and see if you had any luck selling the Lot?

Questions:

Whats the difference between the Saga and Buckman discs?

I have the "crane" potatoe chip disc set which I believe has 20 something discs in the set?

Are these Saga & Buckman disc different from the "Crane" set?

Have you sold the PSA 10 Buckman set? How many are in that set?

John

Hey John,

The Saga and Buckman sets have similar looking fronts as the Crane's, it's the backs that are all different. The Buckmans are a little harder to find than the Cranes, and the Saga's were a short print, so they're (by far) the toughest to find.

The Saga set has the same 30 cards as the Crane set, while the Buckman's only have 20 cards. The Buckmans set does not have a Walter Payton card, but it does have cards of Franco Harris, Gary Huff and Jim Plunkett, which aren't found in the larger Crane or Saga sets.

The problem with the Buckman's, is while they're not super tough to find, many of them have a hairline crimp from the die-cutting process, which makes them tough to get PSA 10's on. There's also about 6 cards in the set that are typically cut off centered just enough to keep them from getting a PSA 10.

The set registry is also a bit messed up on the Buckman's. There are really only 2 other straight PSA 10 sets out there. The old retired set from MOSH, is the same set that was later retired (when sold) through Mastro's auction (also shown as a retired set). It's one of the current active sets from the guy that purchased it in Mastro's auction. The retired Couldabeena10 set, and the retired Mile High set, are also really this same set that I currently have. (I retired all my sets, plus I listed this set years ago with Mile High, but I had a $1200 reserve on it, and it didn't sell). Probably close to half of the PSA 10's ever graded all originated from a raw vendor batch of about 35 sets that I purchased years ago. Outside of those, I always had a hard time finding perfect examples elsewhere.

The SAGA's discs are just plain scarce, and rare to find in anything above mid grade. The pop report on those shows almost half the cards still have either 0 PSA 10's or maybe 1 PSA 10 ever graded. I imagine some day someone may build a set in straight PSA 10's, but it will definitely be a long term project as they just don't surface that often.

Anyway, that's the scoop on the 3 disc sets. I'm still waiting on a few offers to decide if I'm going to sell or piece out the sets.

- Mike
