In the ads they say 10 x 30 and "shaded" black lettering, your Detroit example is shaded white, not sure about the size of yours either but that shading cancels that Detroit one out.
and NONE that the seller has are any of those in the ads as well |

It might just be the way the ad was printed back in the day, for the sake of ease and uniformity of the print. On the actual Detroit Pennant, the black felt background could easily have dictated that the letter shading be light instead of black (for the sake of proper contrast).
Randall's Detroit Pennant could actually be legit, and I would not immediately rule that one out. But it would help if Randall could confirm the dimensions. As for those others on eBay... all are just overhyped City Souvenir Pennants, none of which are part of that American League Series. Last edited by perezfan; 04-22-2020 at 11:36 AM. |

Also note that in the print ad, each pennant has a double set of streamers, in which one is black and one is colored. That matches Randall's example to a tee. I think his is the real deal.

Mark makes good points in both his posts above. In our contemptible little niche of researching tabletop games,
we've seen many major discrepancies between item and descriptions thereof in the manufacturer's own catalogues, let alone in print ads. Presumably it's sometimes the result of a lag between the time the ad copy was prepared and the time the item was actually produced, other times simply errors by the writer of the catalogue or ad text or by the proofreader. We think Randall's pennant is a match.
