I believe that is a C in old english font.

Based on the old English font pic I found and a representative example, I think that If you look closely it is an "e". I would like confirmation if anyone else agrees or disagrees.
Was it common for colleges to use old English script in the mid 1900s? |

The third from left guy's faded example DOES resemble the "e" you showed....the guys farther to the right, not so much but there IS some sort of horizontal flourish....

![]() That said though, is it possible that the shirt of the guy at the end actually says "EMORY"? Not sure if I would have even noted that if you hadn't shown the pennant, but just throwing that out there as a possibility (and having done zero research on the time-frame to know if that is even a possibility date-wise).
