I would appreciate any comments on what is printed on the back of this Elberfeld card and theories as to how it may have gotten there. I have been thinking the image dates from the production era but really don't know.
The text clearly says "Carrigan Boston" but I don't know if the image(s) is of Carrigan. Thank you. Kell |

The bottom left diagonal font looks Japanese.

Could be the rub of one of those German transparency stamps. The image on this sheet is different but everything else matches up:

I think it's mirrored Hirigana.

Thanks everyone for helping me solve this. I kept searching for Carrigan stamp in my research but never found anything. I thought someone on net54 might recognize the image and I was right. It took about 20 minutes. Definitely some form of those German stamps, looks like the 1909-1910 stamps someone applied.

Actually, upon closer inspection, I believe it could be more than one, Carrigan + Last edited by Bocabirdman; 02-25-2014 at 04:57 PM. |

Behind and beneath "Subjects" the beginning of Carrigan Boston is clearly visible. A mirror image is visible over the "ont" of Piedmont.
