Maybe. Maybe not. He had a number of 1915 Cracker Jack cards listed.

The front and paper stock look like a 1914. I agree that I have some suspicion about it being a '15 or '14, but I wasn't going to hesitate. The seller has over 11000 satisfied customers and a pretty good return/satisfaction policy. I will keep everybody informed. Not quite as nice as the Cady that is part of my collection, but it is rarer than the Pratt, so I took a shot….. |

Hey Tom,
Nope didn't ask about the back or for a picture. I was considering it, but wanted to act quickly. The seller has over 11000 positive reviews on eBay and a pretty lenient satisfaction/return policy. You raise the same concerns that I share, but I decided to roll the dice. I am hoping that it pays off. |

If ya got $3900 there's a new Easterly CJ 14 up at ebay, PSA 7. In pop reports there's one PSA 8 and two PSA 7s, plus an SGC 8.5.

Barry, I'm just saying if I would have won it, I would ask the seller to confirm it's a 1914, as it was advertised as, before I paid him. If it turned out to be a 1915, I'm sure he would understand you not paying, as he would have been guilty of false advertising, innocent as it may have been...

Hey Tom, great idea…..I probably should have thought of contacting the seller AFTER committing to buy to make sure that it was a 1914, but just did not think of it. I will keep everyone posted regarding the status of the card.
Doug, thanks for the offer if it is a 1915. I have no idea what the market is for a 1915 Cady in this condition. If it is a 1915, I would either look to return it to the seller, or sell it for what I paid. I will keep you posted. |

i agree Barry, let him get the card in the mail before someone else emails him and lets him know. We've seen it many times, so I think its better to just get the card in the mail. Even if its a '15, you'll either get your money back from the seller via refund or it'll likely sell for that price as a '15 anyway. But I agree, the condition (wear + caramel etc) its in makes me think its thin paper and thus a '14, not the thick stuff that '15s were made from.
Eric, I'm in the same boat as you ... I can't afford the new prices so I'm hoping they will cool off a bit sometime down the road. Till then, will keep hunting for bargains like Barry did! Rob ![]() |

It is interesting that in the past 8 years of data on VCP, there have been three recorded Cady card sales (including SGC, PSA, GAI, BVG and all grades), while there have been 9 recorded sales of the Pratt card. You just don't see the Cady card for sale very much!

All,
I know everybody has been anxiously awaiting the answer to the question of whether this Cady card was a 1914 or 1915…… I hope this addresses that point. I apologize for the delay, but I only opened the package today, as our mail was being held while my wife and I were on vacation for two weeks. What a pleasant surprise to return to…. I will more than likely be looking to either sell or trade the card to upgrade some others in my set. |

That is an awesome 1! Does the back have issues, or did the slight registration issues keep it from grading higher? A couple great looking cards there!

It's really nuts the variations in the grades. check out this psa2 compared to your 1

![]()
Whoa! Maybe we don't see something in the scans that the grader did, but that is worthy of liberating and resubmitting, and if it comes back as a 1 again, I would crack it out again and submit to SGC. I no longer own this card (auctioned it off last summer), but I must have caught the grader on a real good day. It appears to have the same registration issues as your card does. Note the shift of the grass to the right.

I have found PSA really deducts for the surface "wrinkles" on 14CJs (like your Pratt). I have a couple that present like 3s or better but are PSA 1s or 1.5s

I'd be irked too Barry. I was actually pretty excited when mine came back as a 1.5. I would try to resubmit. Even with the wrinkles, I can see them in the scan, I think you got hosed.

I have thought about regrading it, but I am very skittish about parting with it (even temporarily). I was considering bringing it to the National and discussing the card with PSA, but in the past (from what others have told me), PSA has not been apt to admit that they may have under graded a card. At the end of the day, I feel pretty lucky to own a Pratt and, regardless of the numerical grade, I am pretty happy with it. Plus, I bought it raw about 6-7 years ago for $500. The best $500 I ever spent in the hobby (the $135 on the Cady that is the topic of this thread is a close second).
