With Babe Ruth's birthday just about 2 weeks away, this coming weekend, a Detroit bar is hosting their 27th annual Babe Ruth birthday party. 27 years, and this bar still gets overfilled with customers.
I was just wondering, how many other locations celebrate his birthday, or any other annual event still honoring this ball player. This place is Nemo's Bar in Detoit, can anyone else chime in with other like celebrations, maybe we can tell how popular Ruth still is.

Ok, so what's the actual draw there, Babe Ruth or a party at a bar?

I don't know the actual draw, but probably several hundred for the day, coming and going.

I live about 5 miles from Ruth's former home in Sudbury, MA ( a suburb appx 30 minutes west of Boston) and every time I pass it there is at least one person out of their car taking a picture of the house.

His legacy lives. His name is brought up quite a bit when the homerun leaders are mentioned especially in context with PED's. In retrospect, he was almost like a brand in the way Ali, Jordan, etc are.

Andrew,
Just the one.......I know I had seen online somewhere there was some other sort of celebration going on about Ruth, don't remember what is was, that and the Detroit event started me wondering if there were any other events honoring him. But it does not appear to be much else, I kinda thought maybe 3 or 4 others, but not a one. RTK, Yea, I think he will always be the one they compare sluggers to.

Not sure about his birthday. I do anticipate however that Ruth's rookie items will see a major bump when they become 100 years old in 2015.
