While researching my previous post on exclusive E90-1 artwork, I came across another interesting fact, which is completely opposite of exclusivity. There are three subjects that can be seen in the following 14 related issues:
E90-1 American Caramel E92 Crofts Candy E92 Crofts Cocoa E92 Dockman E92 Nadja E101 E102 E105 Mello Mint E106 D303 General Baking D303 Mother Bread T216 Kotton T216 Mino T216 Virginia These three cards are in each of the above 14 sets: Bob Bescher, Hans Lobert, and Honus Wagner (batting variation). Having a 14 card run of any these cards would be an incredible, crowning collecting achievement, as more than half of these sets are very uncommon. Has anyone seen such a run, or perhaps is working on it? One final query--are there any other similiar runs of vintage cards utilizing the same artwork larger than the 14 issues that exist for these three cards? Brian |

Hi Jim...the information I had on the Virginia Extra set (I believe info came from the SCD guide) indicates that there is a T216 Virginia Extra of Wagner Batting. Does this card not exist?
The Doolan artwork is not seen in the E90-1 issue, and also is not in the E102 set. The artwork is seen in the D303 Mothers set, but the player designation is Morgan. So it can be found in a total of 12 sets. Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 06-15-2013 at 11:48 AM. Reason: added question mark for questionable reasons |

Can you really count the back versions of sets like the E92's different sets though? Otherwise, you'd have all of those back variations of T206's and M101-4/5's that could count as different sets.

as far as I know there are no Virginia Extra cards of Wagner. I am pretty sure its on the checklist but none have ever shown up so far.

While I know it doesn't exist in the e92 Dockman (and perhaps t216 VE and d303 mothers?), but the Dots Miller (fielding) can be found in most of these sets as well. It also has a red crofts candy and a blank back. Pete U has a great collection of this card that he has shared in the past.

Dots Miller is in a whole heck a ton of sets, and as Pete indicates, if you break things down further according to back variations, he is in more. He is, however, missing from the E92 Dockman set as well as the D303 Mothers Bread sets, so he ain't no Bob Bescher, that's for sure. Somehow Bob baby made it into all of these related sets.

I personally believe each of the T206 brands should be listed and considered as different sets, but that might be a tough one for the hobby to accept.

miller is present in d303...def gen baking and I thought I've seen him in mothers bread but I could be wrong. Bescher may be the king though?

If you count all advertisers/backs and variations, this Wally Schang image can be found in well over 30 sets-- 20 from 1916 alone, plus E120, E121 and E122 variants, 2 Cracker Jack and an Eastern Exhibit, if not more:

Here is where I stand...thanks Chris B...for compiling my run...and my newest t216 blank back.
This project has definitely satisfied my type collecting urges. It's interesting if one compares this type of run to t206 runs...as if I ever complete this run...I'd surmise that 2/3 of the total possible millers are from very difficult sets...comparable to the toughest of the t206 backs...a bunch of which only a few examples are known to exist! I'd suggest such a run to anyone looking for a fun challenge...just don't even think about collecting DOTS!!!! ![]() BTW...still looking for: e92 nadja e92 crofts candy blue e105 t216 kotton t216 ve d303 mothers bread Will pay/trade handsomely for the above!!!! the image that appears in the most different sets or the image that appears with the most different backs.
I guess if you count the e92s as different sets you could do the same with 206 backs. Either way you are looking for the image that has the most different backs. The red portrait of Cobb has to be up there at the top of the list. Also any card that is in the 350 460 series of 206 will have a large number of backs and several appear in other sets like t213, 214, t215 etc. Pete that is a very nice run of Miller. Nice to see them all together.
