Default Question about the wagner on ebay

I know the seller is part of our forum.

Just wondering why list it on ebay?

Wouldn't an auction house be better?

Your ebay fee is going to be like 40k, right? At auction, if im not mistaken, there is no fee to the seller. And I would think you would have a lot more, hi-end buyers looking.

Just wondering.

I love the buyers with 0, or 7 feedback scores, entering bids on a T206 Honus Wagner.

Looks like an advertisement for a website.

auction houses do charge fees to the seller, in most circumstances.

Not Goodwin.

Plus I'm sure with a card of this value, the fee at any auction house would be waived.

Actually its not so weird when you think about it. These are likely people that have no desire to collect via eBay but when word got around that a T206 Honus Wagner card is for sale these people were willing to make an exception. I know collectors that still mostly collect the old fashioned way - via shows and word-of-mouth. Hell, some even use collector's forums (B/S/T)!!!

It is semantics who "pays". Unless none of the bidders at Goodwin can do math and don't realize the difference between the hammer price and the final price it is the same. The auction house and eBay both get their cut from the amount the buyer pays.
