I think I've seen some discussion as to whether or not this is a photo of Joe Jackson sliding. It appears on a vintage baseball card that does not cite his name. Here's a link to the photo, with description (the caption reads "April 23, 1915 League Park, Cleveland Jimmy Austin is playing 3rd base Geroge Hildebrand is umpire").

Harry Lord was playing third base in the previously discussed photo.

Yep, you're thinking of this thread, one of the classic Net54 threads.
Although it is not the same play, it is an interesting comparison photo. While not conclusive, it does show a similarity in the sliding style/technique. Perhaps a little more evidence that the T202 panel does indeed feature Shoeless Joe.... Last edited by CW; 05-26-2012 at 11:22 PM. |

The very similar sliding styles in the two photos, the first being identified as Joe Jackson, is enought to convince me the T202 depiction IS indeed Joe Jackson.

Just read the entire original thread on this topic--slightly shorter than War and Peace but significantly more entertaining and educational.
