I picked up this Chase from a fellow net54 member a few months back. I never noticed anything out of the ordinary. I just scanned all of my cards for documentation purposes and was flipping through the scans and think I may have a wet sheet transfer, although a very light one. I just pulled out the card and it is surely there.
I'm looking for opinions on the possibility of this being a Sweet Cap back wet sheet transfer only really noticeable in the jersey area. And does that really make sense because it has a Polar Bear back? Thanks in advance. |

Looks about right, I'm assuming this happens after the factory, sometime during the 100 years from being stacked below a SC back.

I just can't seem to figure out what it is. There's certainly something there, but it also doesn't match up with a SC back from what I'm looking at. You can also see something in the blue background in person. Unfortunately, my scanner blows.
Looks like a red print, but doesn't match up with a SC, EPDG, or Hindu back from what I'm deciphering. |

Looks to me like those red marks are caused by the cards being placed directly under a SC overprint with that big red bar, and then left together for a long time.
Everyone wants every stray mark to be 'wet sheet transfer', and I've yet to discern the magic of it. I don't think either of the cards are wet sheet transfers. An SC card with an overprint bar got damp while pressed down on those cards, long after they left the printer's. |

I think we are in agreement Frank, this is a transfer after the factory, some sort of wet card transfer but not off the press.
I wouldn't associate any premium for these and in most cases can make the card less visually appealing.

Scott, Dan, how long does it take for the water to seep through the slab and get to the card, when you soak?

Thanks for putting an extra 't' on my name, so when I run for President and people are looking for dirt on me, they won't find that I'm associated with you guys.
