Rhett - I just finished reading your fantastic Old Cardboard article, and I learned a lot from it - lotsa kudos to you!
Re the cards with the "Henry A. Johnson ..." on the back, you mention a recent discovery of a Guy Morton card with a "light bluish-green printed back" and an Oakland address. FYI, I have had this WaJo card, which I believe has this same back and which also appears to have come out of a scrapbook, for roughly 10 -15 years. Inasmuch as this WaJo pose is found in the E121/80 set but is not found in the E121/120 set, could it be that this HAJ back pre-dates the HAJ back with the rubber-stamped purple ink? Is it known if HAJ had facilities in both Alameda and Oakland at the same time, or if he had only one location, which one preceded the other? I would love to see some more E121 and W575-1 type cards with scarce advertising backs - please show them (especially WaJos! ![]() Val |
