1970's White Sox Jerseys in Mears
Any idea why the big discrepancy in price on these 2? They were sold within a month or so of each other?

Simply goes to show how fickle these auctions can be. You cannot always apply logic to the prices realized. The two players are comparable, and if anything, Downing may be the more desirable jersey.
The Downing Jersey realized a pretty good price... the Lemon Jersey went way beyond the amount these typically realize. For whatever reason, I suppose two people just really wanted it.

Wasn't Chet Lemon always a fan favorite in Chi? Stats aren't everything.

Thanks for the responses, yes Lemon played longer in Chicago then Downing, so looks like it was just a case of 2 Lemon fans going at it.
But being from Chicago I am just a fan of these style jerseys that they wore in the mid to late 70's, owner Bill Veeck was a one of a kind owner and I like how he brought back these early 1900's style jerseys for a few years. They are classics.
