It's a memorial card that is very popular. Good luck in trying to find a deal on one.

One of the old SMR Magazines list the T205 Joss as tough in high grade. So fittingly, I assume that has some sort of effect even on the lower grade ones as well.

According to Lew Lipset's Encyclopedia, Vol. 3, Joss is listed in Group 1 of Rarities, Group 1 being the most difficult to obtain. Then add to the fact that he, Bresnahan, and Wallace are the only Hall of Famers in that group; and that Joss died that year which leads to speculation that it was short printed and you have a high priced card in any condition.
Also in an article about T205s by Kevin Struss in VCBC Issue 1 from March 1995, Kevin listed Joss as the 4th toughest scarcity behind Hoblitzell No Stats, Dahlen, and Fisher. Best, Tim Kindler |

I would say that Joss is a Super SP.

I think Joss is pretty rare and very popular based on my experience. If money is not an object, you can get one pretty much any day...

I liked Kevin Struss' article and it was an original jumping off point in my research but some of his assumptions and finding turned out to be a little off.
Joss is rare. Not as rare as the Wilhelms (both variations) or the Hobby no stats or the Wallace one line of stats. Joss is rare because it was a single print that was printed a little later in the run (most likely replacing one of the minor league cards)...the second reason is that it is coveted as a memorial card since it mentions his untimely death. Joss is also a HOFer. This card is very difficult and finding a low grade one at a bargain price is nearly unheard of now. Joshua |

There have been a couple references in this thread to prices of the Joss card. Based on your experience and the current market, what's a fair price for a very-good example (PSA 3 or SGC 40 equivalent)? Thanks |

The more recent work that others, such as Josh Levine, Shawn Adkins and others whom I cannot think of off the top of my head, have done has really shed a much better light on the set. Their work has really been exceptional, especially in regards to understanding the scarcities within the set through the study of the different card backs. Fortunate enough to pick this up off my friend Dave Czuba.
Have not seen one in a higher grade by SGC... but would love to see one! ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us ![]() Last edited by asoriano; 01-15-2011 at 01:09 PM. |

I think the scarcity of the T205 Fisher is way overrated. Prices have come down on nice examples and I see them fairly often.
