I had these two sketches of my favorite card done for me(the real one is a bit expensive for me). What do you all think? Anyone have a picture of a real one to share?

LOL!! Does everyone think that cards with the LIONEL CARTER tag carry any sort of premium?

LOL, yes I do. I would pay a small premium for a card that was in his collection. Not a lot, but some.

spent on those by the artist? I like them both, but prefer the one on the right. And, wow, David -- that card just gives me the warm fuzzies.... |

Chuck - Yes they are both hand painted. It took just about a month or so but nor sure exactly how long it took him in actual time painting.

Rich, those are some great drawings, but I have to say I would love to have a real one in my collection. I would buy 2's all day if they were as nice as the example shown.
Thanks for sharing! |

great drawing, great Kawikaean card,
and a resounding yes for premiums for Lionel Carter. i've paid them for several cards now and never mind doing so, since the gentleman has become quite the hero for me in this avocation. best, barry |

David - At the risk of coming across as being Mr. Negative, is there a problem with the back of your Matty card that explains why SGC gave it only a 30?

I do want to be Mr. Negative. What the hell are you trying to hide from us, David?

OK. OK. There's writing on the back: "Property of the Hall of Fame".

Mine is graded a 1.5. Is is not as bright as David's, but it is downgraded due to pencil writing on the back.
In mostly faded pencil it says, "Best Fade Away Pitcher" neatly written in cursive between the top paragraph and the Cracker Jack company production info on the back. I don't like writing on a card as much as the next guy, but I think it is kind of cool that someone back in 1914 wrote the name of the pitch that he is famous for. I like to think that whoever wrote on this card might have actually seen the infamous Fade Away in person. ![]() |
