Very, very nice! Most Mono's I've seen are scrapbook removals with serious back damage. Yours appear pristine.
Don't let them go cheap! Those are very valuable. I can't afford even one. |

Those are gorgeous. Like Steve mentions, these are very valuable.
Do your homework before letting them go if you decide to do so. |

If you offer the Monos and Zeenuts at auction individually you are going to do very well.

holy cow those look pack fresh....vibrant colors and creamy white borders on the obaks are also dreamy! these kind of cards deserve the premium.
also go out to a hobby store and buy some penny sleeves and top loaders/card savers/screwdowns etc. |

What Quan said....you want to make sure you handle those Mono's very carefully. There are not a lot of them out there and yours may be some of the best in existence.

Amazing Monos. I really am growing to resent my beloved grandparents for not having been chain smokers.

Very nice Monos, and an especially nice T212 Weaver.
The better Monos look like they will grade 5-6, and the Weaver 6-7. Those are just guesses, of course. |

but I believe his uncle did. I thought the cards may smell smokey but I guess after being locked in a safety deposit box for so long they won't pick up much of a smell.

I agree with tbob... (without quoting him)... some auction place will want to bunch those together.
I think you'll do much better if you sell them individually at auction, IF you're going to auction them. The only reason I can see that an auctioneer would bunch them into a lot is because it is easier on them... not better for the consignor. When they get done explaining why they want to bunch them, say no and sell them somewhere else. |

I have been speaking with numerous auction companies and plan to make an announcement in the near future who I am going with. Then you all can start breathing down the auction house's neck
![]() The cards will definitely be shown around prior to them actually being sold so the sale will be some time from now. It has been a pleasure speaking with many of you. All of you have been very helpful and certainly possess a great deal of knowledge about the business. I wish you luck on your collection endeavors, and I hope that my cards may aid you on your way!! Now I have to get back digging around for that Bohen card. It's just gotta be there! |

Agree with Frank 100% and I hope whichever auction house you use will break them up or at least have small lots.
If you DO find the 1911 Bohen in the shape the other Zs are in, the board expects a postcard from the Riviera where you will be enjoying the summer. ![]() |

Just a quick (and I am sure easy question) question, I always thought that Mono's had blue back. However, the one's posted on the blog have black and white backs. I am sure there is an obvious answer, maybe the scans are black and white? Different variation? Or maybe I am color blind!
What do you guys think? Jeff |

I really wanted to see the Peckinpaugh Mono. Dang, it must of missed the cut for scanning.

Jeff- I noticed the black backs too, but his scans are black and white. Those cards are genuine.

my scanner would allow me to do. I cannot tell you why. Sorry.

My scanner will do the same thing and although I only partially understand why, it is fixed by using colored paper in the backgound. For example, lay the cards on the scanner and then lay a yellow piece of paper on top of the cards.

Hello Dave, Mono a Mono was meant to be a pun, and I'm glad you picked up on it. ![]() But, the part about a beneficial trade or sale was serious. I just read the other threads created by ptowncoug3012 on the subject matter, and it answers my question about what he has. I concur with much of the good advise given. Ptown should learn all he can, and be patient ... which he appears to be doing, and that's good. It is normal for a seller to want to get as much as they can, and why not. I believe in a fair deal for everyone, where both the seller and the buyer end up with a smile. I'm a set collector, I have 21 of the 25 in the Mono set, with a few dupes for trade. Win, lose or draw, at 78 ... the fun is still in the HUNT. ![]() I've never cheated anyone, and I'm not about to start now. Ptown, Lot's of luck on whatever path you take ... I just thought I introduce myself ... Welcome Aboard! Joe Pelaez (tobacco-r-us) |

At least you responded to my post.
![]() Whereas ptown doesn't appear to be interested in trade, sale or my bidding, and that's too bad because I'm interested in two of his cards. Dave, this is between you and I, please don't tell anyone else. ![]() Since I started re- collecting in 1982, I went by the guideline of, "If I don't get it from one seller, I'll see it somewhere else." That guideline has helped me with the T206 set- missing one from the known checklist. The T205, complete. T209- photo type II - 219. Mono's 21/25. The fun is still in the HUNT. Please don't tell ptown. ![]() |

Joe,
Before you get all bent out of shape, ptown had said, in another thread, that he had selected Goodwin to auction his cards. I would think that slims the chances he will sell, trade, or auction the cards to you. Pick them up from Goodwin, later this year. |

I don't often check this list serve everyday. You can certainly PM if you so desire. As I think it was pointed out below I will be auctioning my cards. My collection consists of 1911 Zeenuts, 1909-1911 Obaks, 1911 Monos, 1911 Sporting Lifes, S74 Silks, a few other misc cards. I posted my Zeenuts on another post. If you would like an email from me as to when these will be sold shoot me a PM with your email address. |

Jim, if you read my previous post, you will see that I finally got to read his other threads. In which he stated what cards he had, and what he was planning to do. I also welcomed him aboard. You missed my whole point. It was not a sneaky e-mail, or PM to a seller to take the offerings off the market. The point was about some kind of a response ... a Common Courtesy. Is that too much for you to understand? |
