| ot - best pitching era?

Had discussion with dad as to the era with the most top-flight pitchers. Early baseball with Cy Young & Radbourne 1910's-20's with Matty, Walter Johnson, then Grover Alexander 1930's with Lefty Grove, Carl Hubbell, Dizzy Dean 1940's-50's with Feller, Spahn, W. Ford 1960's with Koufax, Gibson, Marichal 1970's with Seaver, Carlton, Palmer, Ryan I like the 1970's era - strong. Dad liked the Matty/Johnson/Alexander era - although Matty and Alexander didn't overlap much. And the 30's if you throw in S. Paige, wow! Your votes? steve |
