Richard, are you talking most in a career...because I think Walter Johnson holds that by himself...I could be wrong.

Jon is right, that is def Youngblood.
Here is a question/trivia...who are the only guys to play or manage for the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers and Giants? I'll start off with Darryl Strawberry.

He didn't say "baseball." He said "sports." Brodeur just notched his 110th.

Joel Youngblood is correct...I love that question. And yes, I missed the "sports" part of Richards's question. Guess I have my head only in baseball these days.

I'll take a shot at Rob's question...I believe one of the answers is Casey Stengel.

Who is the only major league player to have hit a home run in every inning from the 1st through the 16th?
And I'll add another: what legendary sport's figure was alive when Lincoln was assassinated, and when Kennedy was assassinated (events that took place over 98 years apart)? Last edited by barrysloate; 04-08-2010 at 12:24 PM. |

Jose Vizcaino played for all four teams.

From purely a player point of view, the answer is Strawberry, Vizcaino and Ricky Ledee. Vizcaino and Ledee also played for other teams. I think Straw is the only guy to play for just those four teams. The manager aspect adds another wrinkle...

In answer to Barry's question, it's Amos Alonzo Stagg. Admit to having to look that one up.

Good job, almost forgot about Ledee...I always get him confused with Ruben Rivera...but Ledee never stole Jeter's glove.....

BARRY - Willie Mays was the one to hit HR in innings 1-16. Mays hit the HR in 16th inning in classic Marichal-Spahn pitchers duel, 1963, where they both pitched complete games in a 1-0 classic.

Great question, Barry. He sure was the Grand Old Man (as per my alma mater's fight song).
WAVE THE FLAG Wave the flag of old Chicago, Maroon the color grand. Ever shall her team be victors Known throughout the land. With the grand old man to lead them, Without a peer they'll stand. Wave again the dear old banner, For they're heroes ev'ry man. |
