Do any of you know what event these photos were taken at. The Photos are 3 1x2"x 5 1x2" and have the number 347D stamped on the back. You can see the only other information I have on the front of the photos. Thanks D.

Hopefully Dan Bretta will chime in. I believe he is a collector of Dan Tobey items, who is pictured in one of the photos.

I have a similarly-bordered snapshot featuring Honus Wagner in Pirates uniform holding the infant son of Fern Bell (1939 debut). As far as I know, it was from Bell's personal collection.

Now those are awesome photos! Perhaps an exhibition game featuring the Athletics vs the Los Angeles PCL club? Dan Tobey was most famous as a boxing ring announcer in the 1920s-50s, but before that he was a member of the Nebraska Indians baseball team. He also has one official at bat in a PCL game in the 1930s...it had to be some kind of a stunt though as Tobey would have been near 50 at the time and was already famous from movies and ring announcing...he was the Michael Buffer of his day.
The site of these photos are probably from LaPalma Park in Anaheim - the A's held spring training there from 1939-41. ![]() ![]() ![]()
