Thanks for the opinions guys. Its definitely got me scratchin my head. It has such a distinct baseball bat shape its hard to believe it could be anything else. The shape along with the rings (which are definitely not something that was added recently) make it look just like a 19th century bat. But the size, WPA stamp, and end area would indicate otherwise. It surely wouldn't be a handle for your average everyday shovel. Its just to big and heavy. Its over 2" in diameter at the end. It would of been a massive shovel on the end of this thing. I wouldn't of wanted to dig or swing with this thing thats for sure.
