Default 1903 Giants mag picture - "premium" description drives up price

Posted By: Scott Forrest

Here's an item that I bought (intact) for $24.95, but is up over $150 now, cut down: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1020688241 What's fascinating is the seller's description of the item as a premium inserted into the magazine, which apparently has pushed the price way up. Burr McIntosh was a very high-quality magazine of photos and drawings and all pages were of the same paper as this picture - the seller is correct in that the paper is heavier stock than other old premiums; unfortunately, the image quality isn't as good as the Sporting News premiums. The picture was simply another photo which was bound into the magazine. I bought the same page two months ago for $24.95, complete with the top part of the page which included the three binding holes! The page was actually 6 1/8" x 11 3/4" before being cut down. But do you warn the bidders? Since it's not cataloged, I guess it's value is whatever someone's willing to pay.
