Default The Babe in 1973

Perhaps this might already be well-known, but what the heck. It has always greatly puzzled me that the 1973 Topps Babe Ruth 'The All-Time R.B.I. Leader' card shows the Bambino with a strange 'S' insignia on his hat. An S???? No explanation from Topps???? What is it? What could it be? WTF???? So when I ran across one today, I decided to do a bit of research and was able to find out the hat was actually a 'U.S.' (periods added) hat for his 1934 barnstorming tour of Japan. Finally, I can sleep at night!!!

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.
