I wasn't born in LA but was transplanted there early on, to the SF Valley. Jim Piersall (by then retired) lived in Sherman Oaks not far from me, and Don Drysdale had a bar in Van Nuys called Drysdale's Dugout. Used to pass it all the time (too young to go in, though.)
