Default Huggins and Scott Auctions Begins Monday

ONE OF A KIND T206 ED WALSH BLUE BACK OLD MILL CARD HEADLINES HUGGINS AND SCOTT’S DECEMBER 2012 AUCTION!

Huggins and Scott’s sixth and final Masterpiece Auction of 2012 begins on Monday December 3rd, 2012 at Noon eastern time. Bidding will be available until Thursday night December 13th with the 30-minute rule beginning at 11:00pm eastern time.

This auction features another amazing array of sports and non-sports items that caters to every level of collector and investor. Whether you only want to spend a few hundred dollars or several thousand dollars, our selection of quality items has a little something for just about everyone. This auction is headlined by Lot #1 – the only known example of a variation of a T206 Ed Walsh card with a blue Old Mill reverse. This card has been discussed at length by the most experienced collectors and the one-of-a-kind piece will instantly be a cornerstone to any advanced tobacco card collection.

Card collectors will enjoy an abundance of 19th and 20th century rarities including professionally graded and raw examples of cards from a variety of designations, including an extremely tough 1907 Ty Cobb Detroit Seamless Steel Tubes rookie year postcard SGC 20; an attractive completely graded E95 Philadelphia Caramel set with a SGC 60 Honus Wagner; a tough-to-find collection of SGC graded D304 Brunner’s Bread cards with Wagner, Lajoie and Baker; an amazing collection of high grade Exhibit cards with many shortprints and “highest graded” examples; several lots of graded T3 Turkey Reds, T205 Gold Borders, T206 White Borders and more.

The post-war collection is substantial as well with a 1952 Topps Mays SGC 84; the finest group of 1951 Fischer’s Bread Labels we’ve ever offered; a terrific selection of high grade 1967 Topps unopened cello packs; many complete and near sets from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s and two different 1990 Topps George Bush cards (of only 100 total made, including the highest graded example). As always, we also present a plethora of wonderful “shoebox” collections (always a crowd favorite).

Other artifacts in this auction include a terrific selection of various years, styles and teams of game-used warm-up jackets including a neat early St. Louis Cardinals; a seldom-seen 1969 Seattle Pilots game-used cap; and a Moses Malone game-used Washington Bullets jersey.

Staying in the memorabilia category, we are pleased to offer a wonderful collection of game programs and tickets, including Mickey Mantle’s 1951 Major League debut ticket stub; 1941 Lou Gehrig Memorial full ticket; numerous graded World Series tickets and season passes; several early World Series programs including 1920, 1922, 1927, 1932 and many more.

As with all of Huggins and Scott Auctions, we have a large number of autographed lots including baseballs, bats, lithographs, photographs and others consigned by collectors from all across the country. Highlights include: an 1896 George Wright signed invitation graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA; letters signed by Nicholas Young, Ty Cobb, Fred Clarke and Joe Tinker; a unique 1937 Leo Durocher trade contract signed by Burleigh Grimes and Branch Rickey; a stunning Babe Ruth and Jacob Ruppert dual-signed photo postcard PSA 7.5; a PSA 8 Walter Johnson signed index card; a PSA 10 Ty Cobb cut; an amazing collection of vintage autographed photographs from the personal collection of EC Patterson including Knute Rockne, Amos Alonzo Stagg, Fielding Yost and other early college football dignitaries; and the most impressive autographed Sporting News collection we’ve ever seen with literally hundreds of signed publications including Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, Roger Maris, Wayne Gretzky, Wilt Chamberlain, Johnny Unitas and multiple Michael Jordan’s.

If political or Americana collecting is your hobby, this auction features a number of very early American historical autographs including Robert E. Lee, Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, PT Barnum, Neil Armstrong and much more.
