barrysloateI know a lot of people like to send valuable baseball cards via fed ex and I am strongly against it for one main reason- fed ex has a maximum insurance of only $500. If you have your own carrier who will insure it, then that is a different story. I send everything registered mail above about $500 value, even the occasional package that is worth in excess of 25K. And with UPS, you can insure to 50K, and send overnight, and as Tom can tell you, it would cost about $200+. I truly believe that it is worth the extra fees and the extra time to wait for a registered package. You have your whole life to enjoy it, what is the big deal if it takes a week to get to you? I don't like the idea of sending expensive and irreplaceable memorabilia through the mail and crossing your fingers that it will all work out. And I have been shipping baseball cards for 25 years.
