Default SOLD Original 1927 BABE RUTH World Series TYPE 1 Photo

For Sale:

The fabled 1927 Yankee season will forever be associated with arguably "the greatest team in baseball history", Babe Ruth's 60 home runs, and the Yankees "Murderer's Row" of Ruth, Gehrig, Lazerri, Meusel and Combs. The Yankees would win a staggering 110 games against only 44 loses, a staggering .710 winning percentage, eventually claiming their second world championship by sweeping the Pirates in an uncontested four games. Presented here just happens to be an extraordinary Babe Ruth batting image from that legendary Fall Classic, portraying the "Sultan of Swat" in his classic swinging pose as the Pirates catcher and umpire loom on.

Guaranteed an original Type 1 photo, this remarkable image captures Ruth in one of his finest moments as the immortal slugger completes his swing after connecting for possibly one of the two round-trippers he hit in the series (Ruth hit home runs in games 3 & 4). Measuring a full 8" x 10", the News Service image displays stunning clarity, with some moderate soiling, minor chipping around the edges, and a few faint wrinkles barely visible to the naked eye. The awe-inspiring Ruthian batting pose has remained virtually unscathed with only a couple "ghost" markings to notate this photo being an original as news services commonly did prior to lending out photos back in the day. Below is a link to the only other original copy of this photo to come to auction, which is in less desirable condition than the one I am offering here.

This is only the second original print I have ever seen come to public auction, which this one sold for $2,827 in January of this year!
