It's possibly a combination of things. Out here a couple of weeks ago, I tried to go to a free show that would traditionally have a small, basic turnout of people ambling in and out. But because of the market boom (especially with modern cards), there were untold numbers of people on line to get in first thing in the morning. Hundreds upon hundreds. It was batsh*t crazy. Sure, it can be argued that some of the interest was due to it being so long since a show was allowed to take place, but I digress. We were told the wait time would be around 2 hours to enter, but that was a complete fabrication. My first thought was if they charged an admission, the line would have probably been greatly reduced, as the more frugal people would have been a bit turned off and stayed home. Maybe that's part of what's happening with your show? More revenue for the promoters and less people actually there in line pissed off at said promoters??

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.
