Default 1953 Bowman Color #24: Jackie Jensen

Jack E. "Jackie" Jensen. Right fielder for the Washington Senators in 1952-1953 and the Boston Red Sox in 1954-1959 and 1961. 1,463 hits and 199 home runs in 11 MLB seasons. He had a career OBP of .369. He was a 3-time All Star. 1950 World Series champion. 1958 AL Most Valuable Player. 1959 Gold Glove. 3-time AL RBI leader. 1954 AL stolen base leader. Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame. He debuted with the New York Yankees in 1950. His best season was 1958 for Boston as he posted an OBP of .396 with 35 home runs and 122 RBI's in 654 plate appearances. He retired from baseball early due to his fear of flying and its increasing frequency and duration as teams moved west.
