The cards are only marginally larger than modern sets today. They're also not a strip card set or hand cut. It's a set loaded with HOFers. I suppose a lack of a major rookie card holds it back some. Doesn't really explain why the Ruth and Gehrig cards are still so cheap though. 1929 is still a time when Ruth was at his height.
